Data sources

Public records, made researchable.

BackerBase starts in Louisiana and uses public campaign finance and public-record sources confirmed in the app repo. Coverage depends on loaded datasets and imports.

Louisiana Ethics

The app includes scripts and dashboard surfaces for Louisiana Ethics contribution, expenditure, loan, and filing records.

Secretary of State records

BackerBase references Louisiana Secretary of State candidate inquiry, elected official records, and business search records where matched.

FEC records

The app includes FEC import and filing sync workflows for Louisiana-related federal committee and campaign finance data.

Public filings

Research workflows surface filing activity, evidence links, report numbers, dates, contribution totals, expenditures, and loans when available.

Nonprofit records

The app models IRS nonprofit filings, financial snapshots, grants, related-party transactions, source documents, and organization roles.

Loaded datasets

BackerBase should be marketed as source-backed, not complete by default. The app can only analyze records that have been imported and loaded.

Keep claims aligned with the app.

As new states, sources, or imports are added, public copy should be updated from a fresh app audit.
